Best Free 3D Software

If you were like me and just starting out working with 3d art as a hobby, and possibly a potential future job, you probably don’t have the money to buy something crazy expensive like 3Ds Max, Maya, or Zbrush. That’s why I’ve made a list of the best free 3D software you could ever need to start with.

1. Blender – The best free 3D modeling application out there. Nothing beats it, Blender is capable of animation, poly modeling, sculpting, motion tracking, compositing, rendering, rigging, texturing, particle effects, water simulation and I’m just barley scratching the surface. I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out.

2. Sculptris - Sculptris is basically a Zbrush alternative, created by the makers of Zbrush, Pixologic. While not as powerful as Zbrush, you can't knock the price. It'll give you a good feel as what Zbrush is, and what it can do, without paying the heavy price.

3. Gimp - While not specifically 3D, you need a good 2D editor. You need a good image editor to put finishing touches on images, if nothing else to crop and resize them. Gimp is basically an opensource Photoshop alternative.

So there you have, some of the best free 3d software out there to help you create your images. There's a lot more, but in my opinion you can achieve just about everything you need with JUST these programs. At the end of the day it's up to you though!
